Detail
This section addresses the diverse peoples and ethnolinguistic groups of Iran. Iran is a multiethnic country in which, alongside Persian speakers who form the relative majority, large groups such as Azeris, Kurds, Lurs, Baluch, Arabs, Turkmen, Mazandaranis, and Gilaks live. This ethnic, linguistic, and at times religious diversity is one of the fundamental features of Iranian society and an important matter in the country's national identity and domestic politics.
